A couple weeks ago, I joined up with some fellow Registered Dietitians to endeavor on an ethnic market tour of Somerville's Union Square. The evening itself was perfect for a stroll.
These tours are run by the Somerville Arts Council and gives a glimpse into the array and diversity of items you can find in a few block radius.
We first stopped into a Haitian market, taking a look at all of the unique bags of rice displayed in the front window.
Our tour guide was well-versed on how to respect the shop owners and highlight some of the unique items you could only find at that market.
We also visited the Indian market next to Market Basket, but widely known for their garam masala but also their vast collection of Bollywood movies. We stopped in to an Asian market as well, marveling at the variety of udon noodles and sauces. Finally, we headed to dinner at the local Peruvian restaurant and ate quinoa stew while talking about only what you would expect dietitians to talk about: food.
If you live close by, I recommend checking this tour out. You might be surprised by what you find. And tickets are only five bucks.

I've heard about this and wanted to check it out but eventually forgot about it :p Glad to be reminded by your post!
